History of APPCA

As early as 1959, correctional professionals throughout the state met to discuss mutual problems and issues.

In 1964, the leadership of the Pima County Society of Professional Correctional Workers was responsible for having Tucson chosen as the site for the Western Regional Probation and Parole Association Meeting.

With the impetus from the Western Regional conference and the coming together of professionals from the entire state, the Arizona Probation, Parole and Corrections Association was officially founded.

From 1964 to present, state conferences have been held regularly. In 1978, the Arizona Probation, Parole and Corrections Association was legally incorporated as a non-profit professional organization.
